In November, the People's Assembly approved the dissolution of the CAC, the body responsible for drafting a new constitution, declaring that its work had been completed. Encouragingly, from the perspective of political stability, the opposition has accepted the Assembly's action, despite having withdrawn their representatives from the CAC earlier in the year in a bid to pressure President Dos Santos to schedule elections for mid-2005, before a new constitution could be put in place.
