THE BUREAU of Internal Revenue plans to further ease the requirements of its compromise program for tax delinquents after the agency failed to attract a significant number of takers due to the the stringent rules of the program.
BIR Officer-in-Charge Jose Mario Buag said he would order a review of the No-Audit Program (NAP), with the objective of again relaxing its rules in order to accommodate more taxpayers.
When the program was launched early this year, the BIR said it was looking at attracting 100,000 applicants who would voluntarily settle their unpaid tax liabilities. However, the BIR reported that, as of July 15, there have only been 2,532 individuals and 1,517 corporate taxpayers that availed of the program.
