DAVAO CITY-Runners from University of Mindanao shone with Angelito Sibayan and Jho-An Banayag of Maragusan, Compostela Valley, emerging as Davao regional elimination champions of the 29th National Milo Marathon yesterday.
Sibayan, a Criminology student, completed the 21-K course that started and ended at the Rizal Park here in 1 hour, 13 minutes and 27 seconds.
The 22-year-old Sibayan, who ran 27 kilometers from the UM campus in Matina to the hills of Eden Nature Park in Toril once a week for a month to prepare for yesterday's race, beat fellow UM runners in improving on his fourth place finish last year.
Reynante Villarma was second in 1:15:23 while defending regional champion Rodel Bustamante settled for third in 1:16:42.
