Collingwood coach Mick Malthouse says the Magpies are limping towards the end of the AFL season under the weight of injuries.

The 14th-placed Pies take on in-form Fremantle at the MCG on Sunday, with the Dockers having produced their most consistent patch of the season over the past three weeks to climb back into finals contention.

"They've won their last three games and won them very well," Malthouse said.

"They're a good football side, they should be in the eight ... with that side, they should be in the eight."
