Jul. 29--Genzyme Corp. said yesterday its kidney dialysis drug Renagel cut the death rate in long-term dialysis patients and in patients over 65, according to a new study that compared Renagel to competing drugs.
Renagel, a pill for which the Cambridge biotech company charges $1,500 to $2,500 a year, helps dialysis patients flush the nutrient phosphate out of their systems before it can build up to dangerous levels.
