Southwest Airlines appears to be on pace for one of the best cargo years in its history even amid signs of an airline industry slowdown.
The Dallas-based carrier reported $33 million in operating revenue from freight in the second quarter, a 17.9 percent increase over the same period last year. The increase followed a strong 36 percent increase for first quarter to bring its revenue for the first half of the year to $67 million, 24.1 percent ahead of 2004.
