Jul. 28--DAYTON -- MeadWestvaco Corp., a consumer packaging maker with 800 local employees, on Wednesday said it will cut up to 15 percent of its salaried work force to help save $200 million a year.
Up to 850 of the company's 7,000 salaried workers could lose their jobs, the company said.
The job cuts are part of a wider plan to reduce expenses.
"This initiative will reduce general and administrative costs and streamline warehousing logistics across the enterprise and is expected to save at least $200 million in costs annually by the end of 2007," the company said.
