THE growth of Uganda's manufacturing sector appears to have slowed down significantly in the last two years after a rapid expansion in mid to late 1990s, according to a review of the industrial and trade performance published recently.

Data contained in the review produced by the ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry in collaboration with the UN's Industrial Development Organisation, indicates that production in most manufacturing sectors warped in 2002/3, occasioning declines in exports and corresponding surges in imports of most products.
