Senegalese MP paints mixed picture of democracy in Africa.

Cotonou, Benin (PANA) - Senegalese MP and academic, Prof. Abdoulaye Bathily has observed that the assessment of two decades of democracy in Africa is still very mixed.

In a communication on "Democracy in West Africa: assessment," Bathily noted here Tuesday that almost all countries of the sub- region offer several signs of durable political instability.

"Some countries of the West African sub-region like Cote d'Ivoire, are beset by conflicts while others such as Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea-Bissau, with the support of the international community, look for the way to peace," he pointed out. …
