HOW CAN the radiation health effects of low doses of ionising radiation be quantified? Certainly more research is needed, emphasising the epidemiology of exposures to radiation at low doses and low dose rates, and on mechanisms whereby ionising radiation causes cancer.
Two contrasting models form extremes in a longterm debate. First, there is the linear no-threshold (LNT) model.
