SEOUL, July 4 (Yonhap) -- South Korean electronics giant Samsung Electronics Co. fared poorly in the second quarter due to a set of adverse factors but its performance is expected to improve in the July-September period, a brokerage house said Monday.
Daewoo Securities Co. put Samsung's second-quarter operating profit at 1.67 trillion won (US$1.61 billion), saying the figure could climb to 2.14 trillion won for the current quarter.
Daewoo Securities, however, failed to provide annual and quarterly comparisons. Samsung Electronics is slated to unveil its second-quarter results on July 15.
