At 42 years old, Kimiyasu Kudo is looking like the ace of the staff.

The Yomiuri Giants southpaw earned his team-leading eighth win, beating Central League defending champion Chunichi Dragons 2-1 on Tuesday night at Nagoya Dome.

Kudo went seven strong innings, allowing Chunichi's only run, a Kazuyoshi Tatsunami homer in the second inning. He gave up six hits and walked two, and Yuya Kubo worked a scoreless eighth, while Hiroshi Kisanuki had little trouble in the ninth to collect his fifth save.
