KUALA LUMPUR: A peddler of pirated VCDs was shot and injured when a team of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs enforcement officers was surrounded by about 50 men armed with sticks and iron rods last night.

In the incident at a night market in Taman Seri Rampai, Wangsa Maju, some members of the 34-man raiding team were attacked by the group.

A senior officer fired several warning shots to keep the assailants at bay.

However, the group comprising tontos and peddlers of pirated VCDs continued assaulting the officers.
