Amrita Roy Chowdhury in Kolkata July 6. - The dream of a rabies-free Kolkata seems close to fulfilment with the Sir Ratan Tata Trust willing to back a stray-dog-population-and-rabies-control project initiated by the People For Animals and the Compassionate Crusaders Trust. Mr Debasis Chakrabarti of the PFA confirmed that trust representatives would visit the organisation between 13 and 16 July to assess its activities related to the project. 'They have already sanctioned Rs 5 lakh for this year, releasing Rs 2 lakh of it. If they are satisfied, they may sanction more funds,' he said. This project needs a 10-year run.
