MUMBAI: Dawood Ibrahim, expatriate don and dreaded terrorist, could spend lakhs on his daughter Mahrukh's upcoming wedding with Junaid, son of former Pakistani cricketer Javed Miandad. But back in his hometown Mumbai, which he fled some time in the early eighties, he remains one of the biggest tax defaulters. He reportedly owes the income-tax department over Rs 50 crore in tax arrears for a little more than a decade.
I-T sources said that the department had attached as many as 60 properties belonging to Dawood in Mumbai after the serial blasts of March 1993. Dawood is a key conspirator in the blasts. …
