Climate Change and Environment Minister Elliot Morley said today that the Government was looking at developing indicators based on the levels of carbon emissions within different areas.

Defra is currently working to develop estimates of carbon emissions using energy consumption and vehicle movement figures for local authority areas. The figures will help to tackle climate change by showing where the largest opportunities and challenges lie and spreading best practice.
