SARAJEVO, 1 July (ONASA) - As of today, the United Kingdom assumes the Presidency of the European Union, for six months until 31 December 2005, the British Embassy said in a press release.

The British Ambassador, Matthew Rycroft, launched the UK Presidency in a primary school Mesa Selimovic in Sarajevo, at an event organised by the NGO "European BiH".

"Today is the first day of the British Presidency of the European Union. It is a challenge to represent the EU in a country as important as Bosnia and Herzegovina", said the British Ambassador to BiH, Matthew Rycroft. "The local theme of our Presidency will be education and …
