PRESSURE is intensifying on the Department of the Environment this week as the EU Commission agrees to the Dutch application for a derogation of 250kgs organic N per hectare - and Ireland has yet to submit its nitrates action plan.

Yesterday, the Department of the Environment said the action plan is to be sent to Brussels this month, but this is the third time that the department has stated that the action plan is on the point of submission.
