BARNSLEY old boy Leo Bertos could make a surprise return to Oakwell on the season's opening day.

The ex-Oakwell Academy lad, now 23, has been on trial at League One rivals Swindon Town, who visit Barnsley on August 6.

Midfield player Bertos, a New Zealand international, was released by Rochdale at the end of last season.

Former Barnsley boss Steve Parkin signed him for the League Two outfit two years ago and axed him in the summer.

Swindon manager Andy King explained: "I have five trialists in at the moment.
