Jul. 16--Carbon dioxide supplier NuCO2 Inc. was cited and fined $12,600 last week in connection with the January death of one of the company's delivery drivers.
After a six-month investigation, the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration cited NuCO2 for three violations, including not implementing feasible measures to control employee exposure to carbon dioxide, according to the citations issued July 5.
George Torres, 49, a NuCO2 truck driver from Apopka, died Jan. 8 while making a delivery to a Central Florida McDonald's, which uses the gas to carbonate soft drinks.
