COUNTRY megastar George Strait rarely leaves his native Texas ETH he prefers the wide open plains of the Lone Star state and his extensive ranch to the rigours of city life which he experiences occasionally on touring schedules.
GeorgeOs strong Texas roots are evident in his new album released in Nashville on Tuesday by MCA Records.
The album Somewhere Down in Texas is top of the pile with its 11 tracks and a single from the collection YouOll Be There is making huge waves in the US charts.
Indeed, the market sales of the single were so good that release of the album was brought forward by George from the autumn. The track is a follow- up to GeorgeOs 2003 Honkeytonkville, which deputed at No 1 in the charts.
George, meanwhile, has collaborated with Willie Nelson to headline a debut soundtrack compact disc album for a family movie from Hannover House Records.
The OGrand ChampionO album contains some of their best albums and, given that George and Willie have collectively sold more than 100 million albums between them, it is being billed as one of OOthe best country soundtracks of all timeOO.
