SMILING happily as she sits in the summer sunshine, stabbing victim Abigail Witchalls shows publicly, for the first time, signs of the recovery which has given hope to her family and amazed her doctors.
Newly-released pictures show her working with her occupational therapist, Emma Linley, on improving the movement which is slowly returning to all of her limbs ETH particularly her right hand.
As she sits in a garden in the grounds of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore, Middlesex, where she is receiving treatment, it is clear just how much her condition has improved.
The 26-year-old, who is pregnant with her second child, can now lift her right arm a small amount and is able to move the fingers.
She can even sit up in a wheelchair for most of the day, is able to speak softly and has begun to eat small amounts of pureed food.
However, her painfully thin arms show how the brutal stabbing, which left her spine damaged, has taken its toll on her body.
