he UAE plant of Alubond (USA) - which recently commenced full-fledged commercial production of aluminium composite panels - has been so successful that the company is already considering an expansion, according to the UAE-based Mulk group chairman, Shaji Ul Mulk. "The success of the Alubond brand has encouraged us to go for another expansion and a new production plant will be set up within this year," Mulk points out. "This plant was originally planned to be set up in Europe but we felt there was a need to stay with the Middle East construction boom and increase our capacity. The UAE plant now has a capacity of 2 million sq m per annum and with the addition of our new production line, the total capacity will be marked at 5 million sq m per year." In the recent past, Alubond has emerged as the fastest-growing brand in the world and is presently being specified in major Middle Eastern projects such as the Dubai International Airport Expansion (Phase II), Burj Residences project, Waves - Residential Towers, Dubai Marina, ARY Building at Dubai Marina, all in Dubai, UAE; the new terminal building at Sharm El-Sheikh Airport - Egypt and a number of projects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Iran, he adds.
