SEOUL, July 13 (Yonhap) -- President Roh Moo-hyun on Wednesday said he was "optimistic" about the outcome of upcoming nuclear disarmament talks and future inter-Korean rapprochement. In a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Roh said, "I look positively on North Korean leader Kim Jong-il's meeting with Unification Minister Chung Dong-young and other inter-Korean dialogue held recently, and I am optimistic about the North Korean nuclear issue and the security situation in the Korean Peninsula." Rice flew into Seoul late Tuesday to meet with Foreign Minister Ban Ki-moon to coordinate their positions at the six-party talks in Beijing in late July aimed at ending the North's nuclear weapons programs.
