Ramesh Ponnuru's "Option Four" (June 6) made some good points, especially in advocating the equal treatment of all non-married people who share a home and are financially interdependent, whether or not their relationships are sexual. But I do have a problem with granting "civil unions" official legal status, out of fear that this may eventually result in government's requiring all employers to provide to such non-married couples the pension and health benefits that are currently provided only to married ...
