Columbia University's senate, a governing body composed of faculty, students, and administrators, voted 53-10, with five abstentions, not to return ROTC to the Columbia campus. The vote was particularly disappointing because there was significant support for ROTC's return among students, with one poll showing 65 percent of respondents in favor and with the student newspaper on board.
