Mozart: Symphony No. 41 "Jupiter"; Schubert: Symphony No. 8 "Unfinished." Eugen Jochum, Boston Symphony Orchestra. DG 469 798-2.

In 1973 Eugen Jochum recorded the Mozart "Jupiter" Symphony and the Schubert "Unfinished" Symphony on an LP that went immediately to the top of every critic's "best" list. It remained a number-one favorite of Gramophone magazine, Stereo Review, the Penguin Stereo Record Guide and other such publications for a decade until the introduction of compact discs in the early eighties.
