This is a pre-digital recording, and as such it does exhibit some background hiss. The sound is also not typically Chandos state of the art in terms of clarity, depth, and envelopment, but it is serviceable and the ensemble's performance is top tier. The only beef I have is an occasional stridency during the loudest parts. With DSP ambiance emendations applied, the sense of spaciousness and live-music envelopment is quite good. A good buy, considering the two-for one price.
