When Englewood Elementary School's physical education teacher, Ginny White, was named Sarasota County's Elementary School Teacher of the Year in March, Pamela Buchanan sent a note congratulating her. The two had taught together 16 years earlier at Tuttle Elementary School in Sarasota.
Buchanan, 49, had no idea that, less than four months later, she would be working with White again.
June 30 was Buchanan's last day as supervisor of state and federal projects for the Sarasota County School Board. On July 1, she took on her new role as principal of Englewood Elementary School.
