Jul. 6--The Southeast Asian arm of the US toy manufacturer Mattel plans to make further inroads into Thailand's toy market with the introduction of its Hot Wheels cars, tracks, and play sets.
Even though Mattel, best known for Barbie dolls, has been in the Thai market for 10 years, it is only during the past few years that it has recognised the market's rising potential, said Sony Ong, brand manager of toys for boys with Mattel Southeast Asia Pte.
The 1:64 scale die-cast Hot Wheels cars are well-known among boys but the company believes more active marketing can increase sales.
