Jul. 6--Berli Jucker Foods Co, which makes and distributes Tasto potato chips, says it expects the declining purchasing power of the public will cut the growth of the 11-billion-baht Thai snack business to just 2 percent this year, a big drop from last year's growth of between 7 percent and 8 percent.
Pattaphong Iamsuro, managing director of the company, said the market growth rate in the potato chip segment, which represents a full one-third of the snack industry, was likely to be 5 percent this year, after rosy growth of more than 10 percent annually for several years in a row.
