SET: Small group behind volatile trade.
Jul. 6--A group of related speculators is responsible for punting on up to two billion baht worth of stock trades per day, mostly within a small group of highly volatile stocks, according to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
Suthichai Chitvanich, a SET executive vice-president, said a market investigation of trading patterns over the past few months had shown one group of speculators often made similar plays each day.
"There are a number of common names coming up trading the same companies each day. They mostly trade through net settlement, with up to two billion baht in transactions per day and profits or losses of 40 to 200 million baht," he said.
