Jul. 4--The property sector slowed significantly in April, according to the Bank of Thailand, with the growth in the number of land transactions at just 3.2 percent above the same month in 2004 after climbing 13.4 percent year-on-year in March.
There were 68,835 contracts for land transactions in April, compared with 86,959 in March. The number of registered residential units rose just 2.1 percent from April 2004 to 3,881 -- compared with a 1.8 percent year-on-year rise to 5,142 units in March.
Cement sales in April rose 5.8 percent year-on-year to 2.16 million tones. They totalled 3.13 million tones, up 21.8 percent year-on-year, in the previous month.
