A Threat To U.S. Sovereignty
Regarding " Preventing War" (Editorial, June 28): Your support of CAFTA is misplaced. If you desire free trade, CAFTA is not it -- it is managed trade instead. If you desire managed trade, CAFTA obtains that by ceding U.S. sovereignty to foreign countries, including appeals and final decisions.
I, for one, am not willing to do that.

Strayed From Original Intent
Regarding the separation of church and state that was noted in "Supreme Beings" (Editorial, Wednesday): We should remember that we are all under two constitutions -- the U.S. and our state constitutions.
All 50 states acknowledge God in their constitutions. The U.S. Constitution is a document that guarded sovereign states from federal power. The U.S. Constitution, in its original intent, was not our protector of rights from state power, but rather from federal power. Our state constitutions are our protectors against state powers.
