State enterprises told to speed up spending.
Jul. 2--The Finance Ministry wants state enterprises to accelerate spending plans for undrawn items to help spur the economy. State enterprises have 240 billion baht in budgeted funds that have not yet been disbursed spanning the 2003-05 fiscal years. Finance Ministry officials say nearly 500 billion baht remains undrawn if state agencies are also included.
"These funds have already been approved within the various budgets, but are just lying dormant. What we want to do is bring these funds into the economy to help spur growth," one ministry official said.
