Jul. 2--SINGAPORE -- The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (Egat) will rely more on fuel oil for power generation and less on coal in the fourth quarter of this year, a source close to the company said yesterday.
The decision comes despite the current high oil prices, which shot up to a record high of $60.95 a barrel earlier this week.
Egat, which owns a majority of the country's power generating capacity of about 24,000 megawatts, is planning to import substantially more fuel oil for the October-December period through PTT Plc, the source said.
