Jul. 2--SINGAPORE -- Thailand's only copper refiner ran at about 40 percent of capacity in the first half of the year after teething problems forced the plant to close for most of March, according to a company executive.
But Thai Copper Industries will raise its output -- copper is trading at record highs -- to an average of 80 percent of capacity in the third quarter of the year and 90 percent by the fourth quarter, he said.
"The learning curve means the improvement in output will be month by month," said the executive, who asked not to be named.
