Wieden & Kennedy has won the pounds 5 million account for the probiotic drink manufacturer Yakult, after a five-way shoot-out.
Defeating Lowe London, Saatchi & Saatchi, Fallon and the incumbent, cdp-travissully, W&K takes on a brief to relaunch the brand.
Despite Yakult's position as the market leader, it is being squeezed by the arrival of new products in the fast-growing sector. Muller, Danone, Nestle and the Swedish dairy company Skane have all launched rival products and while Yakult has seen a sales increase over the past year, its market share has remained static. A new marketing push and increased adspend behind the brand will aim to address this.
