Hotel gets new owners, new look. (Days Inn Rocky Point)

The Days Inn Rocky Point will leave the Bank of America's real estate-owned junkyard in January, when two local hoteliers buy the 30-year-old hotel on the Courtney Campbell Parkway.

The 152-room waterfront hotel will then undergo a major renovation that is expected to cost upward of $750,000, says Dilip Kanji, who has a contract to purchase the hotel for an undisclosed amount. His partner is fellow hotelier Anil Valbh. The sale is scheduled to be finalized Jan. 14.

Part of the renovation will include a new facade, which is intended to give the hotel a newer, more contemporary look, Kanji says. The new look is needed, he adds, because of stiff competition in the …
