Ex-FT BIP duo rise to the top at LexisNexis Europe
Our lead story reported on changes at the top of LexisNexis Europe. Former European sales and marketing director, Daisy Veerasingham, was the new boss, replacing Chris Jones, who had moved to the US as senior vp for online publishing for Lexis and Nexis. Both had been former FT staffers, who had come to LN following its acquisition of FT Business Information Product (BIP) in January 2000. Veerasingham told IWR: "the change at the top doesn't mean changes in our direction and commitment. The strategy that we worked out with Chris Jones will not be changed, and my task is to ensure that we deliver on it." A company spokesman added: "(Veerasingham) has the experience, leadership and knowledge to continue the migration of former FT customers to Nexis." Late in December 2001 she would oversee the merger of LexisNexis and Butterworths Tolley, announced at the Online Information show. Veerasingham was appointed international sales director of Associated Press International last year. Jones is currently president and CEO of Reed's Harcourt Education International.
