Information Skills: Is Google Enough?

Netskills, a part of Newcastle University, is the latest training organisation to tackle Google usage, with a day-long course. Attendees will learn how to improve their usage of Google and get better results from it, as well as learn about other information resources available that they may not be aware of. Skills such as Boolean operators will also be covered. The course costs [pounds sterling]175 (Netskills classes are non-VAT charging).

Practical service/business planning techniques

As a key service to any organisation, the information department may have to produce an agreed service plan. Cilip and library consultant Larraine Cooper have put together a two-day course that will teach information service managers how to identify the benefits of service planning, assess the service they offer, use SWOT analysis and explain how to write up a plan. The course costs [pounds sterling]423 to personal members, [pounds sterling]511.13 to institutional members and [pounds sterling]587.50 for non-members. Prices include VAT.
