Factiva looks to have stolen a march on its competitors by announcing a link-up with RSS newsreader service, NewsGator, allowing users to link to their track folders in Factiva via RSS feeds.
Factiva has been promoting RSS technologies in its service for several months, providing feeds containing editorial selections of relevant news in specialist market sectors from its factiva.com service. The beta service has offered feeds for 25 industry sectors - including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, retail and banking.
The link-up with NewsGator comes in the month that the Denver-based service acquired FeedDemon (see page 8), effectively establishing its credentials as the player to watch in the news aggregation market.
Factiva vice president for content, Simon Alterman, told IWR: "Our customers increasingly want to take advantage of RSS. It's a convenient way to pick out the things that interest them most and deliver it in a format they find most useful."
