Ovid has clinched the contract to provide the International Bibliography of the Social Sciences (IBSS) online service to the UK HE/FE community.
IBSS users will still be able to access it free, as a result of funding by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The service provider for IBSS online for the UK HE/FE community from 1998 to July 2005 was BIDS, a service provided by Ingenta.
To meet best value regulations, IBSS has to put its service provision contract out to tender every three years and, at the same time, users were requesting enhanced features.
Rebecca Ursell, acting manager at IBSS, said it was looking for an online service provider that could offer a user support service, technical operations and support, ongoing service development, and hardware maintenance and upgrades.
