Two U.S. senators recently accepted a petition asking Congress to take action on the limited involvement of women in sciences, mathematics and engineering.

Senator Ron Wyden (D-Oregon) and Senator George Allen (R-Virginia) accepted the petition signed by 6,000 scientists, educators and engineers. The two had led hearings on the same issue in 2002.

Wyden said he would like to hold more Congressional hearings. Meanwhile, he is working with U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings to look at Title IX ...
