Jun. 8--HILLSBOROUGH -- A special district tax to increase funding for Orange County Schools may be put to a vote in November.
When Commissioner Barry Jacobs proposed putting the tax option on the ballot Tuesday night, the other commissioners chimed in with support.
"I like the idea, and it gives the opportunity for the equity issue to have resolution," Commissioner Stephen Halkiotis said.
Halkiotis noted that if the tax were voted down, the board still would have to find a way to address the disparity in funding between the two school systems.
