Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) has developed and demonstrated handheld access to its STN and SciFinder services via Blackberry and PDAs. It expects the service to go live by the end of the year.
"The pace of scientific research demands instant access to research data, and this will give researchers the ability to log-in when they are away from their desktop workstations," said Brian Bergner, vice president of information technology at CAS.
