Jun. 6--Charoen Pokphand Seeds is planning to distribute a new hybrid rice breed with a yield per rai of 1,500 kilogrammes, doubling the current rate, in the middle of next year to help farmers halve their production costs, according to assistant vice-president Narong Limlaemthong.
The subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand Group has postponed distribution to next year from this year in order to have more time to educate farmers about the new technology.
Farmers need to learn a new approach to cultivation because it will be the first time that hybrids are being sold in the form of saplings instead of seeds.
