Banks step up online security
Pennsylvania-based Stonebridge Bank and Texas-based American Bank are incorporating RSA Security's "strong authentication" tokens on their Web sites. The tokens generate a new 6-digit password every 60 seconds, and to complete an online transaction, customers must enter the new password as well as a user name and password. Multifactor authentication -- which may also require a thumb print, retina scan or other data -- is already being used in Brazil and Singapore.
