Jun. 3--The Thai government is prepared to open negotiations for all sectors, including the financial sector, in its free-trade talks with the United States, according to Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon.

But the government insists sensitive goods and services trade would only be liberalised in a timeframe giving domestic producers time for adjustment.

"The position of the Thai government regarding the Thai-US free trade agreement is that we are prepared to hold comprehensive talks involving all sectors," Dr Kantathi said yesterday. "We also have no preconditions with regard to the negotiations."
