Jun. 3--The Industry Ministry aims to raise the value of industry in the gross domestic product (GDP) by 50 percent to 3.3 trillion baht by 2008 from 2.2 trillion last year under a four-year industrial restructuring programme, according to Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, the ministry's vice-minister.
With a budget of 117 billion baht, the programme targets 17 industries. They are steel and metal, electrical goods, electronics, moulds, packaging, petrochemicals, automobiles and parts, machinery, shipbuilding and repairing, pharmaceuticals, furniture, rubber, biomass and energy, fashion, printing, ceramics and food industries.
